Open Streets: The Festive Philadelphia Takeover Returns This December

Forget the winter blues and start jingling all the way down Walnut Street because Open Streets: West Walnut is back, just in time for the holidays. Yep, that means no honking horns, no exhaust fumes, and no buses cutting you off mid-crosswalk. Instead, it’s a festive pedestrian wonderland stretching from Broad to 20th Streets where you can walk, talk, shop, and snack to your heart’s content—all without dodging traffic.

What is Open Streets?

The cars take a backseat while we get the freedom to take over the asphalt. September’s Sunday installments were a hit, and this December 8th and December 15th, it’s coming back bigger and jollier. Running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., select roads will be closed to vehicles and wide open for you to explore everything that makes Center City sparkle during the holidays—from festive decorations to holiday markets and surprise street performances.
