Outdoor Fitness in Philadelphia: Where to Break a Sweat in the Open Air

Exercise not only changes your body, it changes your mind, your attitude, and your mood. But let’s face it, we know as much as the next guy that the usual gym scene can get real dull, real quick. Thankfully, Philadelphia is the ideal city to switch things up and get your sweat on in the fresh air. Let’s get into it!

City Fitness Outdoor Zumba at Dilworth Park

Find yourself in the heart of the city at Dilworth Park, surrounded by the buzz of Philly life, but instead of skyscrapers and honking horns, you're greeted by upbeat tunes and the energetic vibes of Center City Fit Outdoor Zumba. From September 3rd to October 1st, join the City Fitness squad every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. for some hip-shaking, calorie-blasting outdoor dance sessions. These sessions are perfect for boosting your mood and your heart rate all in one go.

If you’re a morning morning person (or just someone who wants to be), set your alarm clock for this one. Channel your inner sun salutation with Sunday Rooftop Yoga, hosted by Yogi Jade Javon at Cira Green every Sunday morning at 10:45 am. There’s something uniquely special about saluting the sun with city skyscrapers stretching around you. Seriously, nothing beats a downward dog with a view of the entire city skyline in the glorious morning sun.

November Project

If you think workouts should be free and based on a cult-like following of enthusiastic early birds, it’s time you learned about the November Project. Meet every Wednesday and Friday at 6:25 a.m. for a 60-minute buffet of running, stair climbing, jumping, and HIIT circuits. It’s really more of a workout movement—one that can make you question your sanity and fitness level at the same time. No gym membership required — just bring your A-game and conquer those stairs!
