Renowned for its affordable drinks and vibrant ambiance, Lucy’s Hat Shop, formerly situated at 247 Market St., has become an Old City institution. Now, this popular bar is embarking on a new chapter with a fresh location in Center City.

The FCM Hospitality Group, known for managing various Philly establishments such as Morgan’s Pier, Craft Hall, Concourse Dance Bar, and Rosy’s Taco Bar, has reimagined Lucy’s Hat Shop as a sports fan haven infused with a hometown Philly vibe. Positioned at 1720 Chestnut Street, in the heart of Center City, Lucy’s is set to pay homage to its original legacy when it officially opens its doors on Thursday, February 1st. The opening day festivities will be accompanied by beats from the DJ duo Menace Cartel.

The main level will blend elements of a sports bar with a dance floor, evoking nostalgia for Lucy’s Top Hat Shop dance parties. The menu will showcase elevated versions of classic American sports bar dishes, meticulously crafted with locally sourced ingredients, complemented by a beverage selection tailored for both sports enthusiasts and revelers.

Lucy's Hat Shop Philadelphia

Avram Hornik, owner of FCM Hospitality, expressed, “Lucy’s Hat Shop was a fixture in the Old City nightlife scene and a favorite for many regulars. Bringing that essence back to the heart of Center City, fostering opportunities for residents and visitors to gather and socialize during a pivotal time when Philadelphia is undergoing a renaissance, is precisely what Philadelphians crave. Lucy’s is a celebration of what defines Philadelphia – our sports teams, neighborhoods, and the diverse individuals within our communities.”

Lucy’s is set to open just in time for the excitement of March Madness and Spring Training, positioning itself as the city's hottest spot. The Lower Level dance floor will feature DJs every Friday and Saturday, with weekend karaoke sessions. The menu will boast an array of bar bites, including Devils on Horseback and Braised Pork Belly Steam Bun, alongside inventive twists on traditional sports bar fare, such as cucumber and blue crab salad & French onion smash burger sliders.

The beverage menu will showcase signature offerings like Pony Buckets, The Buddy System, and an extensive list of craft cocktails. Initial operating hours are Monday – Thursday, 4 pm – 2 am; Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 12 pm – 2 am. Daily happy hours from 4 pm – 6 pm and special daily offerings will be available. The full food menu will be served until 10 pm, with a late-night menu from 10 pm – 12 am. Lucy’s will introduce lunch service starting in March, with walk-ins only.
