Connecting With Philadelphia’s Portal

Just when you thought Philadelphia couldn't get any cooler, boom—say hello to Philadelphia's latest addition: a new Portal! Don’t get too excited, we're not talking about some sci-fi wormhole. This is more about innovation, creativity, and community spirit—a portal to possibilities kinda vibe.

Philadelphia’s new Portal comes straight to us thanks to Benediktas Gylys, a jack-of-many-trades from Vilnius, Lithuania. He’s a best-selling author, radio talk show host, and, of course, the mastermind behind these Portals. Now, his latest project has landed in Philadelphia, letting you connect with your global neighbors.

Philadelphia Portal Love Park

Moving from its original home in the Big Apple, this viral sensation is now all set to connect Philadelphia to distant lands. Its new home?  Sitting pretty in downtown’s Love Park. Officially switched on this morning, you’re now able to wave "Hi" to folks in places like Dublin, Ireland Vilnius, Lithuania and Lublin, Poland. And while the excitement builds, rumors suggest even more portals are in the planning stages, promising to extend this global village to more destinations (Brazil! (*Dusts off samba shoes*) and Ethiopia will soon be added to the rotation)! It also offers a 24/7 livestream, so – if you ever had the itch to visit somewhere – you can now do it virtually at virtually anytime of day.

Why is this great for our community? The Portal is a spot where you can not only converse, but converse meaningfully with people miles apart, giving local minds some international perspectives without the need for a passport. Philadelphia is now not just a city with history but one at the forefront of some many possible future connections – for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Think of this portal as an all-access pass to the world — or at least, a way better version of the pen friendship we had in elementary school. So maybe brush up on your foreign greetings and, who knows, your next new friend might just be a wave away.
