And what better way to truly celebrate this Mexican-American tradition than attending the most lively event in Philadelphia - CINCO EXPRESS

That’s right, it's time to swap your green St. Patrick's Day attire for a riotous splash of color, as we invite you to our first, post-Erin Express event on Saturday and Sunday, May 4th and 5th, 2024. Pack your sombrero and join us in celebrating this beloved Mexican-American tradition the Urban Craft & Crawl way.

But first, let’s uncover the reason behind all the hullabaloo. Cinco de Mayo, or the Fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army's victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War in 1862. It's a relatively minor holiday in Mexico but has evolved into a significant celebration of Mexican culture and heritage in the United States, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations.

While it's often mistaken for Mexico's Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over the French forces of Napoleon III on May 5, 1862, at the Battle of Puebla. Mexico had trouble paying back war debts to European countries, and France had come to Mexico to collect that debt.

Over the years, Cinco de Mayo has become a way to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture, with festivities that include parades, mariachi music performances, and street festivals in cities and towns across Mexico and the United States.

Now, let's shift gears and talk about the Cinco Express, the Cinco de Mayo bar crawl experience in Philadelphia. Scheduled for the weekend of May 4th and 5th, 2024, Cinco Express promises a fiesta like no other. With over 10 bars participating, including a huge outdoor party on the water at the Riverdeck, you're in for a real treat.

As a Cinco Express ticket holder, you'll enjoy FREE cover at all participating bars, a complimentary official T-shirt (for the first 500 early birds), and a handy map to keep you on the Cinco Express path. You’ll also receive a bounty of Cinco swag–including sombreros, beads, glasses - all the good stuff. What's a fiesta without food, you ask? Select locations will offer mouth-watering food specials that will satisfy your taco-craving taste buds in between all the good times to be had.

If that's not enough to convince you, we've lined up DJs and entertainers at select locations to ensure the party never stops. Plus, who could resist $4 beers and $5 margaritas at all locations? At our Cinco Express, we love to party, but economically!

Your starting points for this adventure? Pick from Howl at the Moon in downtown Philly, or head east to Cavanaugh’s Riverdeck. As we near the event, we'll unveil more locations, which could include spots like BRU Craft and Wurst, Tradesmans, Misconduct Tavern, Top Tomato, and Wrap Shack - so stay tuned!
